Writing a letter to a friend or loved one, do you still do it? One of my best friends does! She wrote me a handwritten birthday card again this year and sent it to my New York address. So lovely! It makes me wonder if we ever stopped writing cards? Not really hah?! Maybe less frequent, but it’s still a very personal, friendly and sincere way to say thanks, hello or congratulations. My grandmother always made them herself, in advance, and made sure the cards were sent out for whatever occasion a week in advance so they’d definitely make it on time. It was the sweetest thing. I still do it, when it’s for someone or something special. And when I do so, I’m super selective with the cards I opt for. I’m not crafty enough to make them myself, but I’d love for the cards to look chic and super detailed. The cards pictured are designed by fashion designer Zang Toi for Papyrus, inspired by pieces from his fashion line along with themes that inspire his unique style of drama and edginess. High end finishes, elaborate treatments and intricate details are typical for his style. Papyrus, for those of you who are not familiar with the brand, is a go-to website and store for all things stationary and cards. Their collaboration with Zang Toi is one-of-a-kind and only shows that in this digital age, something as simple and small as writing a card can be very fashionable and significant.
I’m dedicating this post to those traditions that should never go out of style, no matter what age we live in. The traditions that spark joy, bring happiness or comfort someone. Letting someone know that you’re thinking of them, no matter where they are in the world. The smallest gesture of support can be worth so much. So when we do it, why not make it extra nice and pretty with a beautiful card like the ones above? These upscale greeting cards allow coveted iconic Fashion Leaders’ designs to be accessible to the masses. High quality and attention to detail and embellishment, that’s what Papyrus is known for, and that’s just what I love. Brought a whole bunch of them with me from New York, now I only have to select those special moments and people in my life to use them for! The first one is already done, captured above, written to my friend Roos. Happy early birthday girl!
