Sometimes it’s love at first sight with a brand. With Self Portrait it was and we’re still going strong. After opting for the brand when I got married, I continued this love affair during NYFW last month. These dresses look more expensive than they actually are, which is just one of the things I love about them. Super feminine, something my husband love too. He always says I could wear more dresses as he loves me seeing in them. He’d probably prefer me pairing them with heels though, my sneakers are just my way to do it usually. I love the contrast between high and low, dressing up and down. I wore this outfit on the start of my busiest day during fashion week, starting off with two presentations: Frame Denim and Self Portrait. After that I changes 3 times because I got dressed for both the Rebecca Minkoff and Tibi show, wearing their clothing. My last show of the day was Christian Siriano, who positively surprised me with his beautiful collection. It did help that one of my friends was actually walking in the show. So obviously I got changed for that show too, and again for their afterparty. So yeah, quite hectic, with the show locations being quite far apart. But I managed, barely, but I managed. I did promise not to put myself through that process again. For me it’s key to enjoy myself during any fashion week, which means my schedules shouldn’t be too hectic and quality time with friends that are in time should be build in. It’s about supporting those designers I work with throughout the year, and getting to know new ones through attending the shows and presentations. It’s a good mix between work and fun. Play during the evenings, the serious face throughout the day. I do have a love-hate relationship with fashion weeks, but ever since my first NYFW experience it’s definitely leaning more towards a positive attitude than anything else. On to the next one! Are you excited to see a few more fashion week looks?
